The ultimate Brisbane school holiday guide

6 MARCH 2025

Once the weather slowly starts to cool down and the Easter Bunny hops into town, it comes time to start planning the next school holiday activities. Fortunately, Brisbane is brimming with fun and entertaining activities for kids of all ages.

Adventure

The minute your kids see the Story Bridge, we bet they’ll ask if they can climb it - and the answer is, you sure can! Story Bridge Adventure Climb is a must-do; trek up the stairs to take in stunning views of Brisbane from jaw-dropping heights. The family shots will be envied with this breath-taking background. If you’re a bit hungry after your climb, make your way to Felons Brewing Cofor some live music and an icy cold local brew, while the kids occupy themselves on the giant ship playground. When they’re almost all tuckered out, fill their bellies at one of the many restaurants surrounding The City, with kid menus even we’re tempted to try.

Do you have a few future captains around? Well then say 'ahoy’ to GoBoat, Brisbane’s ultimate picnic boat experience. With eight people allowed on board, you can bring your whole family- even your fur baby! Jump onboard one of these self-captained boats and experience Brisbane from a unique perspectiveas you cruise by the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and underneath the iconic Story Bridge.

For those who would prefer to scale the cliffs than cruise by them, Riverlife has you sorted. You can abseil down the cliffs or rock climb up them, or for those seeking more water experiences , Riverlife also offer kayaking adventures along the Brisbane River.

Arts and culture

The Museum of Brisbane is the perfect place to go and explore during the school holidays and with different events happening over the two-week break! Let imaginations run wild with crafty workshops or keep busy as they become a detective for the day, there are endless options to keep small hands and busy minds occupied for hours.

South Bank is filled with fun and engaging activities for the kids, Queensland Arts Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and Queensland Performing Arts Centre have exhibitions and shows that are bound to fill children’s imaginations with wonder. For those bursting with energy, you can make your way to Streets Beach to swim in the man-made inner-city beach, run around to your heart's content at the South Bank playground and over 17 hectares of parklands, explore the blooming grand arbour pathway or experience new heights on the Wheel of Brisbane.

Drive out to one of Brisbane’s regions for more interactive cultural experiences. Find the Queensland Museum Rail Workshops in Ipswich that is home to more than 15 interactive exhibitions including the Sciencentre. In the Moreton Bay Region, The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology hosts an incredible collection of European and Classic artefacts to be explored. In the Redlands Coast, walk on water across the spectacular low-tide sand bridge from Wellington Point to King Island or take advantage of the temperature and make your way out to North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah to learn more about First Nations history and culture with Yura Tours or a magical Kiff and Culture full day tour.
