1 SEPTEMBER 2025

The flowers are blooming, and the temperature is warming, and Brisbane is brimming with endless activities to keep the kids entertained for the school holidays. We have put together a comprehensive list of spring school holiday ideas to keep both the kids and the kidults entertained every day. So, whether you want to embrace the new heat outside or stay cool in the aircon, here is how you can experience the best of Brisbane!

Adventure by the water

Bask in the Brisbane’s warm weather and expel all of that extra school holiday energy with a day trip to one of Brisbane’s beautiful islands, bound to have the kids sleeping on the way back. Make your way over to Moreton Island/Mulgumpin with Tangalooma Island Resort Day Cruises and find a whole day of  incredible adventures for the whole family. From Snorkelling the Tangalooma Wrecks to riding along the sand on an ATV Bike, there is no shortage of kid friendly adventures. North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah also offers fun and memorable activities with the likes of surf lessons, the Brown Lake/Bummiera and the friendly wildlife.

Find the beach closer to the city, in the heart of South Bank. Streets Beach, the Boat Pool and Aquativity are three swimming holes for kids and adults to cool down as the weather heats up.

The minute your kids see the Story Bridge, we bet they’ll ask, “can I climb it?” - and the answer is, you sure can! Story Bridge Adventure Climb is a must-do to view The City and surrounds from the top of Brisbane’s most iconic landmark. Suitable for any fitness level, you just have to be a minimum of six years old to climb. The family shots will be envied with this breath-taking background.

To keep the adrenaline racing, Riverlife, found along the Brisbane River, has you sorted. With plenty of activities to choose from, like kayaking along the River, abseiling or rock-climbing down the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, or biking along the waterfront, the sky's the limit for you and your kids.

Calling all captains - say Ahoy to GoBoat, Brisbane’s ultimate picnic boat experience. Seating up to eight people on board, you can bring your whole family, even your fur baby. GoBoat offers a unique perspective of the inner city, starting at Breakfast Creek cruise around the riverbends all the way to the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and underneath the iconic Story Bridge. When you’ve docked, make your way to Felons Brewing Co. for some live music and a cheeky local brew, while the kids occupy themselves on their giant shipwreck playground. When they’re almost all tuckered out, fill their bellies at one of the many restaurants surrounding The City, with kid menus even we’re tempted to try.

Wildlife

Animals and kids - the ultimate duo. On Brisbane’s doorstep, head just outside of Ipswich to see Summer Land Camels, Australia’s largest wild camel training centre and dairy operation. Your kids can experience the friendly giants up close while you get some adorable pics and learn about the benefits of camel milk. Did someone say immunity and anti-aging?!

If you’re keen to immerse your kids in Australian wildlife, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is Brisbane’s ultimate destination for all your native wildlife warriors. With more than 70 species to find, you can spend an entire day exploring. Or head to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre, residing in the Enoggera Reservoir, for Ranger lead activities designed for all ages!

Keen to combine wildlife with adventure, to really tire the kids out? Thunderbird Park at Tamborine Mountain in the Scenic Rim region pairs a rainforest playground, tree walk and mini-golf course, with natural bushland and walking tracks that feature hundreds of colourful birds for the best of both worlds.
