Adventure

The minute your kids see the Story Bridge, we bet they’ll ask if they can climb it - and the answer is, you sure can! Story Bridge Adventure Climb is a must-do for children aged 6 or older! Make your way up the stairs and take in sweeping views of Brisbane City and beyond from the breathtaking 80 metre high summit. The family shots will be envied with this breath-taking background. If you’re a bit hungry after your climb, make your way to Felons Brewing Co. for some live music and an icy cold local brew, while the kids occupy themselves on the giant ship playground. When they are almost all tuckered out, refuel at one of the many family friendly restaurants in The City. With dedicated kids menus on offer, even the grown ups will be tempted to order from them.

Do you have a few future captains that just can’t get enough of the water? Well then say 'ahoy’ to GoBoat, Brisbane’s ultimate picnic boat experience. With eight people allowed on each boat, you can bring your whole family (even your fur baby)! Jump onboard one of these self-captained boats and experience Brisbane’s landscape from a unique perspective as you cruise along the Brisbane River, passing by the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and underneath the iconic Story Bridge.

For those who would prefer to scale the cliffs than cruise by them, Riverlife Adventure Centre has you sorted. Get your adrenaline pumping as you abseil down or rock climb the cliffs. Or for those seeking more water experiences, Riverlife also offer kayaking adventures along the Brisbane River from dawn till dusk.

Wildlife experiences

Animals and kids - the ultimate duo, and Autumn is the perfect time of year to have the kids outside and making forever memories. Head to Ipswich's Summer Land Camels, Australia’s largest wild camel training centre and dairy operation. Your kids can see the friendly camels, while you get some adorable pics and learn about the benefits of camel milk. Stop in at the cafe for delicious treats and try Camel Milk gelato or a famous Camelcino!

If the family is keen to learn more about Australian wildlife, then head to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Brisbane’s ultimate animal lovers’ destination. Discover the cuddliest koalas, find kangaroos bouncing through the grass and see who can spot the sleepy wombats first.

If your kids are more inclined to the long neck alpaca, then Mountain View Alpaca Farm is your next stop! They can walk alongside one of the smiling ‘floof balls’ through the vineyards whilst you enjoy a tipple or two at the O’Reillys Canungra vineyard. Or venture to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre, residing in the Enoggera Reservoir, for Ranger-lead activities designed for all ages!

Looking to combine wildlife with adventure to really tire the kids out? Thunderbird Park at Tamborine Mountain in Scenic Rim pairs a rainforest playground, high-ropes course, and mini-golf course, with natural bushland and walking tracks not to mention the hundreds of colourful birds and native creatures you’ll spot along the way for the best of both worlds. Or for the thrill seekers, venture to Binna Burra to experience the challenging courses at Happitat Adventure Park, perfect for a family of adventurers.
