Here’s how you can experience the best of Brisbane these summer school holidays.
Bask in the Brisbane’s warm weather and expel all of that extra school holiday energy with a day trip to one of Brisbane’s beautiful islands, bound to have the kids sleeping on the way back. Make your way over to Moreton Island/Mulgumpin with Tangalooma Island Resort Day Cruises and find a whole day of incredible adventures for the whole family. The minute your kids see the Story Bridge, we bet they’ll ask, “can I climb it?” - and the answer is, you sure can! Story Bridge Adventure Climb is a must-do to view The City and surrounds from the top of Brisbane’s most iconic landmark. Suitable for any fitness level, you just have to be a minimum of six years old to climb. The family shots will be envied with this breath-taking background.
Calling all captains - say Ahoy to GoBoat, Brisbane’s ultimate picnic boat experience. These eco-friendly electric boats seat up to eight people, so you can bring your whole family for a fun riverside adventure on the water. Whether you’re chasing an action-packed day or a fun new challenge, Riverlife has endless ways to get your family outdoors and making memories.
Find the beach closer to the city, in the heart of South Bank. Streets Beach, the Boat Pool and Aquativity are the three swimming holes for kids and adults to cool down as the weather heats up.
Animals and kids - the ultimate duo. Just outside Ipswich, Summer Land Camels offers a fun and educational day out for the whole family. Meet and feed the friendly camels, snap some adorable phots and learn about Australia’s largest wild camel training centre and dairy operation. From farm tours to tasting delicious camel milk products, it’s a unique experience that’s equal parts cute and captivating.
If you’re keen to immerse your kids in Australian wildlife, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is Brisbane’s ultimate destination for all your native wildlife warriors. With more than 70 species to find, you can spend an entire day exploring. Or head to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre, residing in the Enoggera Reservoir, for Ranger lead activities designed for all ages!
Keen to combine wildlife with adventure, to really tire the kids out? Thunderbird Park at Tamborine Mountain in the Scenic Rim region pairs a rainforest playground, tree walk and mini-golf course, with natural bushland and walking tracks that feature hundreds of colourful birds for the best of both worlds.
Get the kids into the fresh air at one of Brisbane best parks. Grab some snacks, bring the soccer ball and don’t forget the sunscreen as the kids run to and from the snacks to stay fuelled and hydrated during a day of running around the large green space and dedicated kid playgrounds.

It’s Christmas at Bluey’s World Brisbane! The Heeler home is ready for Verandah Santa’s big visit. Out front you’ll find sparkling Christmas lights, smiling snowmen and glowing reindeer. Adventure through the house looking for Bingo’s favourite toy–Floppy–and keep an eye out for more festive touches, including a beautiful tree, colourful presents and of course a Christmas pavlova.

If your crew loves the stage, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre hosts a fantastic lineupof family friendly events and shows throughout the year. Get dressed up, grab a pre-show dinner at one of the many family-friendly South Bank restaurants before being blown away by your performance of choice.
