Commonly called Natal or Bush Lily, bright orange flowered beauty Clivia (pictured above) is native to southern Africa. Typically forest undergrowth plants, find it in a shady area of the Spectacle Garden.
Bringing a pop of deep purple, Tibouchina grow widely in Australia but originate in parts of tropical South America including Brazil.
Do not miss Spathoglottis, a species of terrestrial orchid, growing close to the ground. The genus name is from a Greek word for tongue, referencing the flower petals.
An Allamanda plant in the garden has an abundance of bright yellow flowers. Native from Mexico to Argentina, you will find Allamanda further afield in the parkland, also edging Celebration Lawn.
Hard to miss is a carefully crafted green hedge of commonly named “Pinwheel Jasmine” (Tabernaemontana divaricata). With delicate, white petalled, pinwheel-shaped flowers, the fragrant shrub originates in India and Southeast Asia.
While meandering along bending pathways see Iceberg Rose featuring soft white and flushed pale pink petals. Introduced in 1958, Rosa 'Iceberg' (Floribunda Rose) was bred by Kordes, a German rose breeding company.
The Spectacle Garden at Roma Street Parkland is open from dawn until dusk daily and is free to enter. Dogs are not permitted in this area of the parkland. If you bring your pup along on your visit, please view the garden from a walkway above.
