Milton, and specifically Park Road, is known as Brisbane's own little corner of Europe with a smorgasbord of continental-inspired restaurants, eateries, cafes, bars and boutiques that lend the are a certain je ne sais quois. You’ll even find Brisbane's very own Eiffel Tower, a revered meeting spot that also perfect for romantics, Francophiles and everyone in between.  

Coffee and brunch, anyone?

Try one of Brisbane's best coffees served from in a vine-covered garage at the ever-so charming Bunker Coffee café. You can also avoid the caffeine buzz and indulge in a sugar rush with hot chocolate – flavours include peanut butter, chilli, rose and lemon myrtle, to name a few. Walk literally five steps down the road to find Caffeine Robber serving Brisbane-based Fonzie Abbott beans, classic breakfasts and international dishes for lunch.

Whisk & Ladle sources local produce where possible and makes its all jams, chutneys, relishes and syrups, so it's not surprising their breakfast fare is a little awesome. Try the New-Yorker Waffle Sandwich with buttermilk waffles, maple-glazed bacon and gruyere cheese. Don't fill up yet – you can't eat out in Milton without a stop at Tognini's Cafe & Deli for a coffee and bite to eat while you peruse the deli counter for a few takeaway treats.

To market, to market

If you're around on Sunday or select Thursday mornings, stop into the Milton Markets for your wake-up coffee and market essentials. Open on Sundays from 6am to 12pm on Cribb Street, around 130 produce and lifestyle stalls purvey an array of farm-fresh goodies plus gourmet treats, arts and crafts and more.

Local bistros

Savour Ribs and Rumps for pork, beef or lamb ribs with a necessary side of creamy mash – it's a carnivore's dream, while The Fishery on Baroona Road will sate that seafood-sized hole in your belly with fresh fish and crispy chips and all the sides.

For fine dining, look no further than the nationally renowned Deer Duck Bistro. Specialising in modern Australian and European dishes with restaurant flair, the degustation menu is to dine for with five to nine specially tailored courses paired with fine wines. Très chic!

International style

There's always room for dessert, so treat yourself to one of Milton's sweet treats. Keeping with the Italian vibe, La Dolce Vita also does a decadent Nutella Italian hot chocolate and it's absolutely as good as it sounds.

Enjoy a walking tour of Milton's local bars and breweries – big and small. Start at The Scratch to sample local and independent brews where you can also BYO food from nearby eateries before a drink at the hidden garden oasis that is the Tuk Tuk Bar off Park Road.

Finally, crawl through the neighbourhood brewpubs. Milton Common has an array of local craft beers by Common Ground Brewing and delicious bites, while the larger Newstead Brewing space on Castlemaine Street has plenty of room for revellers and new releases on tap all year round.

Visit Warehouse 25 gin distillery and music venue to try craft spirits such as gin and vodka as well as beer and wines on tap. There's also a selection of Calm Spirits, made with soothing botanicals, and an onsite restaurant. Finally, no bar-hopping mission to Milton is complete without a stop at the famed XXXX Brewery. Book in for a 90-minute tour to learn about the Brisbane brewery's 140-year history and enjoy a guided three-beer tasting. We'll cheers to that
