Clown - From the Body - a Theatre Workshop

13 - 14 SEPTEMBER 2025

PIP Theatre

Calling all performers and comedians!

The theatrical state of clown is full of poetic potential for the performer and the audience.

It requires the performer to have a high level of play, audience sensitivity, technique, body awareness and vulnerability.

This two day workshop is an exploration of finding a clown form through a somatic clown process; finding a poetic mask through which to play in the realm of clown onstage.

This will be a rigorous and playful two days, diving deep into this rich and wild territory. We will work on the physical form and state of the clown, improvisation and technique, finding embodied ways in to reveal something funny, vulnerable and true.

Clown: from the body is facilitated by Laura Trenerry. Laura has recently returned from studying an Advanced Training in the Pedagogy of Movement Theatre at Helikos School in Italy under the tutelage of Giovanni Fusetti. She has been teaching, devising and performing theatre for over a decade. She is part of comedy theatre ensembles The Travelling Sisters, The Beryls and The Beaks (Stickybeak).

This workshop is for people with performance experience aged 18 and above. Please contact via email if you want to discuss this further or have any questions.
