The Lost Balloon

6 NOVEMBER 2025

The Redland Performing Arts Centre

Presented by Redland Performing Arts Centre and The Mask Family, The Lost Balloon is a visually rich production suitable for audiences aged three to one hundred and two.

Set against the backdrop of a bustling city, the story follows a solitary yet endearing character whose discovery of a shiny yellow balloon sets off an unforgettable adventure. When the balloon slips away, a lively and whimsical chase begins, unfolding through a series of unexpected encounters with a cast of eccentric masked figures. From the mischievous Golden Oldies to the flamboyant Lollipop Ladies and wide-eyed Tourists, each meeting offers its own blend of humour, tenderness, and joyful absurdity.

The Lost Balloon draws on the traditions of world-class mask theatre and non-verbal storytelling to explore themes of loneliness, connection, and the quiet power of kindness. Accompanied by a soul-stirring original score, the production transcends language and cultural barriers to deliver an experience that is both universal and deeply personal.

This world premiere season is supported by the Queensland government through Arts Queensland.
