Watercolour Workshop Rainbow Lorikeet - Advanced Beginner

13 JUNE 2026

Carys Martin Ceramics

Join artist and illustrator Ingrid for this three hour watercolour workshop painting the iconic Australian rainbow lorikeet. This workshop is suitable for those who have previously attended one of Ingrid's beginner workshops or who already have some experience with watercolours (so advanced beginner level).

To start, Ingrid will guide you through some useful techniques for when painting feathers and how to break down the shape and colouring of the bird to make it easier to paint. You'll discuss when wet on wet and wet on dry techniques can be used, and also some demos in layering.

Using these skills, Ingrid will then step you through how to paint a rainbow lorikeet. As the focus is on developing watercolour skills, templates will be provided, however drawing your own composition is also always welcome! If time permits, you can also request demos from Ingrid if you have a specific bird painting question in mind.

This workshop is suitable for advanced beginners (so if you've dabbled a little with watercolour before), and all materials are provided.
