Discover the power and beauty of Queensland's coastal waters through the eyes of one of Australia's most respected landscape painters.
Water Works celebrates Joe Furlonger's lifelong connection to Moreton Bay and its sea, drawing inspiration from his early years fishing with his father and working on trawlers. Featuring drawings, prints, ceramics and paintings, this evocative exhibition explores the tension between beauty and danger in the natural world.
"I love the sea. It is really my subject matter. But it's a mixture of beauty and terror… Everything is double edged. The most beautiful fish are poisonous." – Joe Furlonger, 1988
Works are drawn from the collections of Redland Art Gallery, UQ Art Museum, HOTA and the artist, offering a unique glimpse into Furlonger's vision shaped by the sea.
Suitable for all ages. Free entry.
