Beneath the Surface: Discovering our Oceans is a community-focused marine education and awareness event to be held at Pelican Slipway Café, Weinam Creek Marina, Redland Bay. The event has been designed to bring together marine scientists, industry professionals, and community members to deepen understanding of the unique marine environment of Moreton Bay and inspire greater stewardship of the ocean.

The afternoon will feature engaging presentations from leading researchers and guest speakers from organisations including the University of Queensland and Sea World, alongside participation from local marine industry partners. Through accessible and informative talks, attendees will learn about marine ecosystems, conservation challenges, and current research, and explore the wonders you have at your doorstep.

Beneath the Surface aims to strengthen connections between science and the wider public by creating a relaxed and welcoming space for learning, discussion, and collaboration. The event also highlights the strong relationship between the Redlands community and the marine environment, celebrating local knowledge, maritime heritage, and sustainable ocean practices.

Supported by local sponsors and businesses, the event will include community networking opportunities and lucky door prizes for attendees. Ultimately, Beneath the Surface seeks to inspire curiosity, promote environmental responsibility, and showcase the extraordinary marine environment that exists in your own backyard.
