Rum Jungle - Open Season 2026

19 JUNE 2026

The Princess Theatre

Newcastle's Rum Jungle have been playing their particular brand of alt-rock since before they had a proper stage to play it on. Drawing on surf-punk urgency and indie sleaze confidence, they make songs built for both the pit and the drive home: the kind that carry the weight of youth without ever taking themselves too seriously. The band name was inherited from Benny's dad's 1970s outfit, which tells you something about where this music comes from.

Their debut album Recency Bias debuted at number one on the ARIA charts and took them from backyard parties to sold-out rooms across North America, the UK and Europe, plus showcase slots at The Great Escape, Reeperbahn and SXSW. They are one of the more thrilling things to come out of the Australian rock scene in recent years, and they are only getting started.

Rum Jungle play The Princess Theatre for Open Season. For anyone who has ever needed a great song more than a good reason.

Open Season is The Tivoli Group's annual program of music, art and cultural events, transforming Brisbane into a winter playground for live performance each year. Open Season is independently owned and operated, and has funding assistance through the Live Music Office of the Australian Government and Arts Queensland.
