Heyday and 4ZZZ take over Banshees Bar and Art Space with bands from 80's and 90's Ipswich for a night of nostalgia and Zed favourites as part of 4ZZZ's 50th birthday celebrations.
So what was the Bremer Beat? Anyone reading Time Off Magazine in the late 1970's and early 1980's would be reading about these venues: The Curry Shop, The 279 Club, Hotel Brisbane, Sally's, Sensoria, Pinocchio's, The Outpost, The Tube Club, The Love Inn, Amyl's Nitespace and 4ZZZ Joint Efforts to name a few. Part of that musical era was what became known as the Bremerbeat, a group of bands from Ipswich.
Most members attended the original Bremer State High School at Silkstone, and many members played in each other's bands.
The Colours
Known for their paisley shirts and a distinctive Rickenbacker sound, The Colours return to their home town to headline The Bremer Beat's takeover of Banshees.
Splat Acrobat
Splat Acrobat released two albums and an EP between 1990 and 1994. Alternative indie guitar band with a large local following in the early 90s. A band with strong Ipswich connections, Splat played some of their first shows at the old Murphy's Hotel.
The Heydaisies
A supergroup of Ipswich and Brisbane women have formed especially for the event. Featuring Michelle Bowden, Ildi Putnoki, Alana Mannix, Kristin Black and many special guests!
