Jan Murphy Gallery is delighted to present Nintirigu, a new exhibition by Zaachariaha Fielding. The exhibition title Nintirigu, which roughly translates to "I learnt" reflects a strong connection to family, culture, and Country, as well as the passing down of cultural knowledge.
Fielding's energetic and visceral works are embedded with iconography that draws on Inma – a living practice of traditional ceremonial song and dance that honours and pays respect to Anangu culture and ancestors.
Fielding's work has been recognised in major art awards, most notably as Winner of The Wynne Prize (2023), finalist in the Sulman Art Prize (2025, 2024) Ramsay Art Prize (2021) and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards at Museum and Art Gallery of Northern Territory (2021). His work is currently held in important public collections including the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artbank and numerous private collections. In 2027 he will present a major commission at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), Melbourne.
