Jan Murphy Gallery is pleased to present Duality, by Sydney-based artist Michael Muir. In this series, Muir reflects on the impact of relocating between countries a number of times in his youth, an experience that has shaped the way he sees the world.
Born in Scotland, Muir's childhood was spent in South East Asia before settling in Sydney. Muir has had regular solo exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne since 2010 and Duality is his eighth major exhibition at Jan Murphy Gallery. He was the winner of the Mosman Art Prize 2014 and has been a finalist in a number of awards over the past decade including the Wynne Prize, Kilgour Prize and Fleurieu Art Prizes. His work is represented in the Parliament House Collection, Artbank and private collections throughout Australia and Internationally.
