What started as a candlelight march in support of refugees and asylum seekers in 2007 has grown to become Queensland’s largest welcoming event at South Bank.
For those of you who have walked with us on our journey to create welcome and belonging for a significant time, you would be familiar with our LUMINOUS Lantern Parade, usually celebrated around Queensland Day, and the MOSAIC Multicultural Festival, a staple on Brisbane’s event calendar in spring.
This year, they are bringing LUMINOUS and MOSAIC to create the largest multicultural event in Queensland’s history.
Hosted on Saturday the 3rd of August at South Bank Parklands, LUMINOUS Festival will kick off Queensland Multicultural Month with a showcase of the growing cultural diversity at Brisbane’s Cultural Precinct.
LUMINOUS celebrates the cultural diversity of our local community with food and performances from around the world, culminating in the incredible LUMINOUS Lantern Parade through South Bank Parklands.
Proudly supported by Suncorp, Brisbane City Council and Queensland Government.
LUMINOUS is a free event for all ages.
Come along with your family and friends!
Be part of this enduring tradition celebrating Queensland’s rich diversity!
