Inner Balance - Exhibition Closing Evening - Dedicated to Mother's Day

Creative Room Art Space invites you to the closing evening of Inner Balance, a solo exhibition by Sydney-based artist Ksenia Kirkbride. This special event, held in the lead-up to Mother's Day, brings together a lecture, a curatorial talk, and the opportunity to experience the works in a more reflective setting before the exhibition concludes.

Good Mother, Bad Mother: A Lecture on Louise Bourgeois
The evening opens with a short lecture exploring the theme of motherhood in the work of Louise Bourgeois, one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century. Bourgeois returned to this subject throughout her life, creating works that hold together tenderness and ambivalence, protection and entrapment, love and grief. The lecture considers how these tensions shaped a body of work that continues to resonate with contemporary audiences.

Curatorial Talk: Inner Balance
The lecture is followed by a curatorial talk offering insight into the ideas behind Inner Balance. Ksenia Kirkbride's exhibition draws on mythology, spiritual symbolism and philosophical reflection to explore the inner life of a woman in search of meaning and equilibrium. The talk highlights key works and the connections between them.
