The Queensland premiere of the documentary Stelarc: Suspending Disbelief (2025), featuring an introduction and Question and Answer with co-director Richard Moore.
Cyprus-born, Melbourne-based, Stelarc has always fought to escape the force of gravity. Following his mantra that 'the body is obsolete', the film trails Stelarc as he sets about testing the limits of his own body in a series of death-defying stunts.
A third arm, an extra ear, and a cheeky prosthetic head play parts in this lively film, as Stelarc wrangles the intersection between humanity and technology.
The screening is part of Demo 3/4, an after-hours experiment at the Judith Wright Arts Centre presented by Outer Space and the Institute of Modern Art.
72 minutes.
