City Sounds: Life On Earth, 9 October
Friday, 5:00pm, 6:00pm and 7:00pm @ Queen Street Mall Stage
Life On Earth is a 100% improvised live music experience from Meanjin/Brisbane, fusing hip-hop, jazz, soul, funk and dance music into songs created entirely in the moment. Featuring Rohan Seekers on keys (Desmond Cheese), Lachlan Symons on bass (Big Dead), Brandon Mammata on guitar (Hannah Macklin), Tristan Rogers on trumpet (Düt), Lee Brackenborough on saxophone (Elktung), Nathan MacGregor on drums (HRBRT), and acclaimed freestyle rapper and vocalist Roman MC (BULLHORN), the collective turns improvisation into a full-band live experience with no setlist and nowhere to hide.
Drawing words, topics and ideas from the audience, Life On Earth grows spontaneous songs that can move from hard freestyle rap and deep-pocket grooves to soulful melodies, strange genres, lyrical philosophy and ecstatic dance-floor moments. Developed through a run of intimate Brisbane shows and residencies, every performance is a collaboration between the musicians, the audience and whatever happens in the room that night. It’s live. It’s improvised. It’s for a limited time only. Life On Earth.
