Winter Warmers: Music by Masons

14 JUNE - 14 JULY 2024

Morningside School of Arts

Shrouded in secrecy over the centuries, the fraternal organisation known as the Freemasons has drawn together great minds from many walks of life, including a large number of musicians and composers. While Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is probably the most famous composer who was a mason, other great name may come as a surprise.

The Bach Society of Queensland’s 2024 Winter Warmers concert will have something for everyone as we explore Music composed by Masons, from classical greats such as Mozart, Haydn, Sibelius and Wesley, through to those who achieved renown in musical theatre, such as Gilbert and Sullivan, Meredith Wilson, George Gershwin and Irving Berlin, and jazz giants like Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole.

The concert features the Bach Society Choir conducted by Music director David Webster with piano accompaniment.
