Within Moreton Bay, there are many ancient and diverse ecosystems. The western side of Coochiemudlo's sheltered coastline is fortunate to home six varieties of eight Mangroves found in Moreton Bay, all within a small pocket of the island. This side of the island holds a different feel, away from the weather. This is where most of the fruit orchards were grown 100yrs ago, Moreton steps are built, and ancient weathered caves are located.
Further along the western island circuit, a change in the view is noticed, along with the rich colour of the red ochre soil that has been laid millions of years ago. "Red Rock" or "Flinders Lookout" not only overlooks the nine hole golf course but offers views overlooking southern Redlands Coast and Border ranges.
