Christmas on the Coast | December

Come mid-December, the lights, joy and magic of Christmas rolls into Raby Bay Harbour Park, filling the evening with festive cheer as part of Christmas on the Coast. Live, local entertainment, children’s rides, family activities, photos with Santa, roving performers and a towering Christmas tree make for a merry Christmas on the Redlands Coast.

Quandamooka Festival | August

Held on Quandamooka Country, North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah, Quandamooka Festival is a celebration of culture, country and people during August. Expect to learn from hands-on workshops, experience whale watching, soak in the knowledge of the Nughi, Nunukul and Gorenpul clans, and appreciate traditional and cultural art, dances, live music, and more.

Redfest: Redlands Coast Festival | September

Early in September, live entertainment, carnival rides, fireworks, a Quandamooka showcase, food trucks, and so much more enliven the Redlands Coast as part of Redfest. Make sure you keep an eye out for the exciting program as it’s released!

Stradbroke Chamber Music Festival | July

A returning event the Stradbroke Chamber Music Festival transpires on North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah, bringing the majesty of live chamber music to the island for one of the most sophisticated of Brisbane regional events. Make a weekend of it and book a stay at one of the island’s accommodation offerings, and discover while you’re on the island.

GreazeFest | August

For three fun-filled days each August, GreazeFest brings its ‘Kustom Kulture Festival’ to the Redlands Showgrounds in Cleveland. Each year the festival brings thousands of people together to revel in their shared love of rockabilly music and style and hot rods.

Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival | August

A key annual event on the upcoming Brisbane regional events calendar, the Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival sees food lovers, notable gourmands and seriously enticing eats descend on the Moreton Bay region in August. On the sunlit waterfront at Apex Park at Woody Point, food stalls, demonstrations, drink purveyors and many other exciting vendors and entertaining sessions lure visitors to the bay with the aroma of delicious dishes.

Samford and Surrounds Arts Trails and Open Studios | June

Running for over a decade, Samford and Surrounds Arts Trails and Open Studios, an event that runs every June and invites wanderers to discover the works of visual artists, ceramicists, jewellers, wood workers, textile designers, photographers and artists of other mediums. The Trail begins in Samford Valley and continues on to Clear Mountain, Cashmere, Eatons Hill, Cedar Creek and Dayboro.

Bonfire Night | July

A popular winter school holidays event that reoccurs in Moreton Bay is the show-stopping Bonfire Night at the Sandstone Point Hotel. A large fire lights up the night, while rides, live music, entertainment and food trucks assemble to keep patrons fed, watered, happy and warm. Don’t forget to sample Bonfire Night’s signature s’mores while you’re enjoying the frivolity and family friendly fun.

Abbey Medieval Festival | July

An epic event that draws in medieval enthusiasts from near and far, the Abbey Medieval Festival features the Moreton Bay Joust Championship, sword fighting, archery, cannon firing, Turkish wrestling, birds of prey, and more. Pick up medieval souvenirs, period costumes, leather goods and other medieval-inspired artisanal products from the many stalls on site. And enjoy a glass of mead and some hearty fare from one of the food and drink vendors during the festival.

The Oyster & Seafood Festival | October

Love seafood? This is one upcoming Brisbane regional event you cannot miss. Another significant Sandstone Point Hotel regional event is The Oyster & Seafood Festival. Expect to enjoy a fresh seafood market, oyster shucking demonstrations (and oyster eating competitions), prawn peeling contests, celebrity chef demonstrations and live music.

Redcliffe Kitefest | September

Every year, during the middle of September, Redcliffe’s annual kite festival will see spirits soar sky high. Redcliffe Kitefest fills the sky over Clontarf with kites of many colours and familiar characters. Aside from the kite displays, there’s live music, workshops, markets, plenty of food stalls and family activities. This is an upcoming Brisbane regional event families will want to pop in their calendars.

Woodford Folk Festival | December - January

The 2024-2025 line-up for the renowned, longstanding arts and culture celebration Woodford Folk Festival will be announced in October and is destined to entertain, educate and delight with its multifaceted program. You can expect to discover talented musicians, circus performances, comedy shows, cabaret acts, inspiring speakers, workshops and ceremonies.

Scenic Rim Region Events

Scenic Rim Eat Local Month | June

A must-experience event for foodies, Scenic Rim’s Eat Local Month offers farm tours, open days, chances to meet its producers, hands-on workshops, special dining experiences hosted by lauded chefs, and more. Showcasing the region’s incredible produce, alongside the farmers who grow it and the makers who create delicious gourmet provisions, the festival takes place an hour’s drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Beaudesert Cup Race Day | July

Come July, Beadesert’s horse racing (and fashion) supporters gather to watch the action of the Beaudesert Cup Race Day at Beaudesert Race Club. Throughout the year, the club plays host to a string of horse racing events, which you can purchase tickets to on the club’s website.

The Long Sunset | November

Set in the picturesque Scenic Rim, The Long Sunset is an incredible three-day festival for all indie, rock and folk music lovers. The festival is not just about camping and music though, it is a completely immersive cultural and community event for ages 12+.

Scenic Rim Ultra | August

Ready to ‘run the rim’? Taking place in August, the Scenic Rim Ultra marathon event sees runners descend on the region to run 25, 35, 65 and 105 kilometres. The course is not for the faint hearted nor the beginner; mountain tracks, rugged terrain, dirt roads and dense forest make for a truly challenging experience.

Kooralbyn Valley Bike Festival |September

Put the pedal to the metal in September for the Kooralbyn Valley Bike Festival. Those who feel the need for speed can head to this upcoming Brisbane regional event that’s all about one thing: mountain biking. Ride or spectate at Kooralbyn Valley MTN Bike Park and bring your camping gear to make a weekend of it.

Kingston Butter Factory Christmas Markets | December

You needn’t travel to a European city to experience the atmosphere of an open-air Christmas market. On 15 December, Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct Christmas Markets will present thoughtful gifts, enticing treats, and other Christmas treasures to bestow loved ones. They’ll also be screening The Grinch at 7pm. Entry to the market and parking is free.

Logan Eco Action Festival | June

With the apt acronym LEAF, Logan Eco Action Festival is an annual, earth-friendly affair. The event endeavours to help patrons learn to reduce, reuse and recycle, in the name of sustainability. There are workshops, interactive presentations, lessons on gardening, and more. You can also buy plants and eco-conscious products and participate in kid-friendly activities on the day.

Lasso Country Music Festival | July

If you are looking to get your yearly dose of live country music, then this music festival is for you. Lasso gathers some incredible music artists to play live for everyone to sing and dance along to. This one-day event is unmissable for country music lovers.

Chinese New Year | February

Held at the Chung Tian Temple, the Chinese New Year is celebrated with traditional performances, beautiful cultural displays, lion dancing and so much more. It is the perfect way to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Brisbane.

Ipswich Region Events

Planes, Trains and Autos Festival | May

The name of this festival sums up exactly what it is all about, Planes, Trains and Autos! Over a weekend every May. From watching shows to immersive activities, this family friendly festival has something for everyone.

Club Parkview Jacaranda Festival | October

Prepare to see plenty of purple at the community-minded Club Parkview Jacaranda Festival in Goodna. Over three days during October at Evan Marginson Park, there’ll be live music, fireworks, a sideshow alley, rides and a variety of top-notch food stalls and trailers on site to keep you going.

CMC Rocks QLD | March

Its time to pull out your boots and cowboy hat for Brisbane’s biggest country music festival, CMC Rocks QLD. From 21-23 March 2025, country music will be blasted for all of Ipswich to hear, it is an event you don’t want to miss.

Queensland Raceway’s Cruise the Night | October - November

Across two dates in October and November, Queensland Raceway will host one of its Cruise the Night: Afterdark Track Meet events. The nighttime events offer a chance for racing fans to cruise around the circuit, tuck into food truck fare, enjoy activities suitable for kids, and immerse themselves in car culture.

Ipswich Cup | June

Annually in June, the Ipswich Cup draws in punters to catch the fast-paced action at Ipswich Turf Club. The Ipswich Cup attracts more than 15,000 people who enjoy horse racing, and the event has been running since 1866.

SPARK Ipswich | July

An event that lights up Ipswich, SPARK Ipswich is a cultural celebration and an upcoming Brisbane regional event you’ll want to mark in your dairy. Bringing together art, music, circus, comedy, technology, projections, and much more, this creativity-sparking event is a must-see.
