01. Wander the West End Markets

Any weekend in West End should begin with a stop at Davies Park for the West End Markets, where more than 150 stalls come to life from 6am every Saturday. Packed with boutique fashion, handcrafted goods, fresh produce and incredible food, it's a feast for the senses before breakfast has even started. Add a coffee while sitting under the trees and a stroll along the river and you’ve got the kind of Saturday morning West End does best.

02. Join the cafe crowd

West End is renowned for its café scene with hungry hordes descending on the suburb every weekend to satisfy their appetites. Whether you are chasing a quality brew or a full breaky, you’ll be spoilt for choice! 03. Sample craft beer in style

You don’t have to venture far in West End before stumbling across a good local beer. The suburb’s love of independent beer runs deep, start at Archive Beer Boutique and Bistro, then move to Ballistic Beer Co., and end at Brisbane Brewing for a classic local pint.

04.  Experience West End after dark

Some of West End's best stories begin after dark. Maybe it's a perfectly mixed cocktail, a great bottle of wine shared with friends or a whisky discovered by chance. Whatever your choice, you'll find it at neighbourhood favourites like Don Gino, +81 Sushi Kappo and the attached Aizome Bar, Pilloni, August, Flying Colours and whisky haven Cobbler. 05. Follow your appetite to West End’s tastiest street corner

The intersection of Vulture Street and Hardgrave Road is a gourmand’s delight. One minute you are grabbing a coffee at milk + honey whilst browsing its range of baby and children’s wear, then next you are leaving Mick’s Nuts with a bag of snacks you never planned on buying. Between a focaccia from The Twin, and a glass of wine at Bar Francine and countless delicious detours along the way, this pocket of West End is one to arrive hungry to.

06. Find your flavour

Sweet decisions await at Anita Gelato, where more than 150 hand-made gelato, frozen yoghurt and sorbet flavours fill the cabinet. Located on the site where Brisbane’s beloved Peter’s Ice Cream Factory once stood, it’s a fitting place to indulge in a scoop (or two) while continuing to explore the sweet suburb.

07. Follow the op shop trail

Part of the fun exploring West End is never quite knowing what you’ll stumble across next. One minute it's a vintage leather jacket, the next it's a retro lamp, a stack of vinyl records or the perfect addition to your wardrobe. With op shops dotted throughout the streets including St Veronica's Op Shop, Yesterday's Thrift Shop, Serendipity and Vintage Revival, treasure hunting is practically a local pastime.

08. Discover pre-loved luxury

If you love to shop, West End’s second-hand designer scene is your heaven. Brisbane’s first clothing exchange, SWOP, is packed with luxury, quality finds and carefully curated on-trend pieces. Just down the road, Neo-Generalist blends vintage wild west and Hollywood glamour all with a touch of European sophistication. 09. A chapter for the bookworms

Calling all book lovers, this one’s for you. Get lost in the story that is West End, starting at Avid Reader a beloved local institution where shelves are stacked with the latest releases and all the favourites from the book world. Turn the page to Where The Wild Things Are where young bookworms can let their imaginations run wild among colourful children's books and new adventures. To close the chapter, head to Bent Books where pre-loved stories wait patiently for their next reader.

10. West End takes the stage

West End's creative spirit is on full display at the Thomas Dixon Centre, a cultural hub home to Queensland Ballet, spectacular performances and a packed calendar of events. Inspired to join in? Master Latin dancing at Rio Rhythmics or try a class with Queensland Ballet, where dancers of all ages and abilities are welcome.

11. Spend an evening at the theatre

Challenging the boundaries of contemporary art and performance, Metro Arts, is home for bold ideas, emerging artists and fresh creative voices. Catch a live show, wander through the latest exhibition and let your creativity flow.

12. Explore West End’s street art

Street art spills throughout the streets of West End, turning everyday walls, laneways and building facades into a gallery. Keep an eye out for Sofles' striking work at the corner of Boundary and Melbourne Streets, Hafleg's crocodile on Norfolk Street and the vibrant walls of 52 Vulture Street – and even more! 13. Discover West End’s Greek heritage

The Greek community plays a starring role in West End’s migrant history. Admire the beautiful architecture and intricate artwork inside the St George Greek Orthodox Church, next to The Greek Club. Established in 1929, it is home to the oldest Greek Orthodox community in Southeast Queensland. Once you've soaked up a piece of the suburb's history, pull up a chair and indulge in traditional Greek flavours at The Greek Club's Nostimo, Lefkas, Yamas, Kafenio or Little Greek Taverna.

14. Listen to live music

Dance your way through West End’s live music scene, from The Boundary Hotel, where live music fills the beer garden from Thursday to Sunday, to Archive Beer Boutique and Bistro where local bands regularly take stage with a packed dancefloor of regulars. With live acts popping up throughout the suburb, all you need to do is follow the sound.

15.  Take West End wellness to new heights

Think you've seen everything West End has to offer? Think again. After a day spent market hopping, op shopping and cafe crawling, swap the usual gym session for something a little more unexpected. Stretch, strengthen and reset at SOBA, where ballet-inspired movement meets yoga and pilates, or head to Bend + Fly, where aerial yoga classes suspended from silk hammocks bring a playful twist to your workout.

16. Indulge in a sky-high soak session

See West End from a different perspective at Soak Bathhouse, a rooftop wellness retreat perched above West Village. Settle into a sky-high soak session as you move between open-air mineral baths, hot spas, a cold plunge, steam room and sauna.

17. Enjoy the water views

Slow down and watch the Brisbane River drift by from Orleigh Park, one of West End's favourite spots for a picnic, catch-up with friends or a lazy afternoon in the sun. Follow the river's edge along the West End River Walk or simply claim a patch of grass and take in the views across to St Lucia, Milton and the Brisbane city skyline.
