Celebrate the arrival of the New Year with the Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks, featuring spectacular free displays.
The highlight of the evening is undoubtedly the stunning firework displays. Enjoy a family-friendly session at 7:45pm for an early night or stay up for the midnight show designed for late-night revellers. Both shows offer vibrant colours accompanied by an amazing soundtrack.
For the best views, head to Clem Jones Promenade, Riverside Green, or River Quay Green. Not familiar with these locations? Use the South Bank map to guide you. Be sure to arrive early to secure a good spot!
Skip the picnic preparations and indulge in a range of delicious food trucks and takeaway options available at the Cultural Forecourt. Additional food retailers are located at Riverside Terrace near the South Bank Piazza.
For a sit-down dining experience, visit the restaurants at Stanley Street Plaza, River Quay, Little Stanley Street, or Grey Street. Visit the eatSouthBank website and contact your chosen restaurant in advance to secure a reservation if needed.
To ensure a safe celebration, security personnel will conduct bag checks from 10am at Parklands entry points. Prohibited items include:
- Alcohol (except within licensed venues)
- Unsealed drink bottles (including water or soft drink bottles)
- Scooters, bikes, skateboards, and pets
- Glass and metal cutlery
- Marquees and large portable structures
- Small, free-standing sunshades are permitted on grassed areas (no staking into the ground), but they are not allowed on the beach or walkways.
Identification wrist banding stations will be set up around South Bank Parklands at Cultural Forecourt, Visitors Information Centre and Little Stanley St. Further details will be announced soon.
Portable toilets will be available at the Cultural Forecourt, Tribune Street and River Quay. Additional permanent facilities are located throughout the Parklands, as detailed on the South Bank map.

If you're not heading to South Bank, there are also fireworks at Howard Smith Wharves and Eagle Street Pier (Riverland, Friday's) at 7:45 pm and midnight, or The Regatta at midnight.
If you’re watching the fireworks offsite from South Bank, make sure you enhance your experience by downloading the free Cinewav app before December 31. It allows you to play the official fireworks soundtrack, in real time. Please note that there is no requirement to have the app at South Bank, as the soundtrack will be played via speakers on ground.
