Anzac Square and Post Office Square  

From barbeques with your nearest and dearest to a grassy oasis to eat your lunch or wide-open spaces to catch up with your mates, there are plenty of beautiful picnic spots in Brisbane City. Recline under a tree or take over a picnic table in one of the leafy sanctuaries nestled within Brisbane’s urban jungle. BYO picnic blanket, snacks and refreshments or grab some takaway nearby and enjoy the Brisbane sunshine.

City Botanic Gardens  

Located next door to QUT’s Gardens Point campus, the City Botanic Gardens is Brisbane’s original public parkland. It has so many beautiful spots for a picnic with wheelchair access, barbeques, picnic shelters and an accessible and inclusive playground so you can bring your children along and still relax. Let one of the excellent food vendors at Riverside Markets cater your next Sunday picnic as they sell their tantalising wares every Sunday from 8am to 3pm.

Queens Gardens  

This Heritage-listed park serves up a dose of Brisbane history with your picnic. Once part of the 1820s convict settlement and thought to be the site of The City’s first house, it’s an open, sun-soaked space so don’t forget a hat. Pause between sips and snacks to admire the bronze statues of Queen Victoria and T.J. Ryan, along with the bluestone tribute to Australian women in war.

Waterline Park  

Perfect for a family picnic, this riverside recreational hub has plenty to keep little (and big) kids entertained. Tucked between  William Street and Mangrove Walk, the park is packed with fun features — think table tennis, a sprawling outdoor gym and loads of space to play and explore.
