1. Sometimes, nothing can beat a riverside picnic with live music and great company. 2. Enjoy a few cold ones with a classic pub meal as you hop your way through some of South Bank’s best watering holes. Kick things off at South Bank’s classic icon , The Ship Inn before making your way to Tipplers Tap for a rotating lineup of craft brews. Soak up the views of the man-made Streets Beach and listen to live music from the Southbank Beer Garden, then stop in for a classic and hearty pub meal at lively The Plough Inn. Finish up at The Charming Squire for the complete brewhouse experience with locally brewed beers and warm atmosphere.

3. Be captivated and inspired at Brisbane’s world-class cultural destination, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). Set along the river at South Bank, explore an incredible collection of contemporary art, immersive installations and limited-time exhibitions, and pieces from both local and international artists.

4. Take a moment to slow down and meander through one of South Bank’s beautiful footpaths. Stroll beneath the beauty of the blooming bougainvillea flowers as the pink and purple colours bloom along the iconic Arbour Footpath or become one with nature through the hidden Rainforest Walk for a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city. If you’re an early riser, join the locals on their early morning jog along the riverside of Clem Jones Promenade to soak up the stunning views of the Brisbane River as the city wakes up around you.

5. Step back in time and explore the fascinating history of Queensland at the Queensland Maritime Museum. Discover the remarkable story of the World War Two frigate HMAS Diamantina, one of the last remaining ships of its kind in the world and wonder through the heritage-listed South Brisbane Dry Dock. From historic vessels to naval artifacts and model ships, it’s a must visit for history buffs.

6. Soak up some sun or make a splash at South Bank Parklands’ free swimming facilities, like the ever-popular and iconic man-made beach in the city, Streets Beach. If your little swimmers prefer shallow waters to wade and play in, head to Aquativity, South Bank’s interactive waterplay park for kids. Or, for those that simply want to take a quick dip to cool off, the Boat Pool is a great option for all ages.

12. Jem at Flowstate, is a captivating art installation created by Australian design studio ENESS. This interactive sculpture responds to people as they move around the steel structure with sounds and light movement, making it a much-loved spot for little ones to play hide-and-seek!

13. You might not expect to pick fresh herbs, spices and fruits in the heart of the city, however, the Epicurious Garden found in right by South Bank’s River Quay picnic area allows you to do just that. Talk to one of the staff or volunteers found in the garden or by the Epicurious van to learn how to grow, cook and experiment with the freshest produce.

14. The Riverside Green Playground is a huge, colourful and incredibly fun space for kids and kidults alike  Surrounded by lush green space, barbeque facilities and picnic benches surrounding the playground, it’s the perfect spot to let the kids run free whilst you enjoy a barbeque all set against the beautiful view of the Brisbane River.

15. Venture beyond South Bank to popular locations such as Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with Miramar Cruises that depart from the Cultural Centre Pontoon. Or simply glide along the Brisbane River with educational and fascinating insights into Brisbane’s history and highlights with River City Cruises, also departing from the Cultural Centre Pontoon.
