Day One

Morning

To start your island adventure, you must depart from the main island at Cleveland in Redlands Coast, towards Dunwich on a SeaLink passenger or vehicle ferry. Once you have made it to the other side, drive off the ferry or make your way to the local bus to check into your chosen accommodation, find offerings from beachfront resorts to cosy holiday homes. The Beach Hotel, Allure Stradbroke Resort, Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel, The Islander Holiday Resort are just a few of the many accommodation options on North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah to choose from. Once you have settled in, it’s time to explore!

Midday

Start your trip with one of the most scenic walks found in Brisbane, the North Gorge Headland Walk at Point Lookout. This boardwalk wraps around the side of the cliffs that separate Main Beach and Frenchmans Beach for just over one kilometer. On one side is bushland, home to classic Australian wildlife, while on the other you will find kilometers of pristine blue waters crashing into the headland. You will want to keep your eye out for the marine life that loves to visit as well. From dolphins, turtles and manta rays to the seasonal Humpback whales that make their appearance from June to November, you are bound to see wildlife on your adventure.

All the sightseeing, walking and adventuring is bound to work up your appetite, and why not fuel up with a view? Sit out at Point Lookout and enjoy fresh fish and chips from Fishes at the Point and finish up with gelato from Whale Tail Gelati and Coffee Bar or Bella Balena Gelateria.

Afternoon

There are so many activities to discover on the island, but we understand that some prefer to get active while others prefer to take it slow, so you can choose your own adventure for the afternoon.

If you are someone who loves to get active, spend time in the ocean for the afternoon as you undertake a surfing lesson with North Stradbroke Surf School. Learn how to surf the waves in the crystal-clear waters of Cylinder Beach. If you prefer to keep your hair dry, you can delight in the bushland side of the island and practice your swing at the North Stradbroke Island Golf Club.

For those that want to take the afternoon slow, it is the perfect opportunity to delve into the islands rich First Nations history, cultural and connection to Country. Spend the afternoon exploring the North Stradbroke Island Museum or embark on a guided cultural tour with a local. Evening

As the sun sets, unwind with dinner and drinks at Oasis on Straddie for vibrant Mexican cuisine and woodfired pizzas perfect for sharing amongst friends and family. Or enjoy a classic pub meal at The Beach Hotel Bistro, accompanied by live music and the sound of waves crashing below. No matter where you dine on North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah, you can expect a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.

Day Two

Morning

For the early risers, greet the day with sunrise yoga on the beach, available on the weekends at 7am (from October to April). Or take a leisurely walk along one of the many beaches found along the island, followed by a refreshing dip in the ocean. Fuel up for the day with a delicious breakfast and smooth coffee at one of the local favourites, The Blue Room Café or The Kiosk.

Midday

North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah has more than just beaches to offer, further inland you can discover some of the island's natural wonders. Walk around and kayak through the serene Myora Springs, as you appreciate its rich history of at least 25,000 years of inhabitation by the Quandamooka people. Drive up the Tripod Track in a 4WD to appreciate the panoramic views of the island from the top of the Tripod Track Lookout. You can also swim in the unique waters of Brown Lake/Bummiera, a culturally significant location to the Quandamooka people where the surrounding tea-tree trees have stained the colour of the water, resulting in the name of the lake.

Afternoon

Before you make your way back onto the ferry, conclude your North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah retreat with a visit to Straddie Brewing Co. Take a unique behind-the-scenes tour to learn about their brewing process that creates distinctive flavour profiles, sample a tasting paddle of locally crafted beers, and kick-back and relax on the rooftop. Take in the stunning ocean views and indulge in a fresh meal from their all-day menu.
