The City:
The best dog-friendly places

There’s no need to leave your pup at home – you and your best mate can explore The City together with plenty of dog-friendly activities to enjoy. From a stroll in the park to a puppaccino at a hip café, there’s no shortage of treats awaiting you both in The City. Just remember, The City is a busy place so keep your dog on a leash at all times and clean up after them. Dogs can be walked on most streets but are not allowed in Queen Street Mall.

01. Stroll along the Riverwalk

A scenic stroll along the picturesque Riverwalk is a must-do Brisbane activity. Start in The City and make your way to New Farm Park or turn right and stroll all the way to South Bank. The riverside pathway soaks in top views of the river, Story Bridge and city skyline.

02. Beers at Riverbar

With a shaded outside area, Riverbar & Kitchen on Eagle Street welcomes pups on a leash to hang with their owners riverside. Book online to reserve your table and enjoy cold brews and classic bites with water bowls on hand for your canine companion.

03. Coffee at The Croft House

The Croft House Town Kitchen & Bar on Charlotte Street is beloved by patrons and pups for its dog-friendly amenities. Take a seat in the shaded outdoor seating area where your dog will receive a water bowl and you can tuck into the likes of smashed avo and feta, homemade granola or spinach and ricotta ravioli from the all-day breakfast and lunch menu.

04. Luxe getaway at W Brisbane

Both you and your fur-baby can enjoy five-star luxury as part of W Brisbane’s P.A.W (Pets Are Welcome) program which includes lots of dog-friendly amenities. Your canine companion (up to 18kg) receives a custom pet bed, clean-up bags, toys and treats, food and water bowls, wee pads and a ‘Pet in Room’ door sign to make your pup feel extra special. The W Brisbane team also has plenty of info about dog parks and specialty pet stores nearby so you and your pooch can make the most of your City stay.

05. Take a walk on the River Walk

The Brisbane River Walk is one of the city's best dog-friendly outings, stretching along the water from The City through South Bank and beyond. Dogs are welcome on leads along most of the riverside path, so pack a water bottle (for both of you), clip on the leash, and hit the pavement at your own pace. Stop at one of the grassy spots along the way, catch the ferry traffic on the water, and let your dog feel very important in a very scenic setting.

06. To market, to market

Brisbane City’s outdoor markets understand the need to spend time with your fur baby and let you bring dogs along while you browse stalls and shop for supplies. Spend your weekends enjoying an alfresco brunch and a spot of live music together at Riverside Markets, popping up at City Botanic Gardens every Sunday from 8am to 3pm. The Brisbane City Markets are on Thursdays from 8am to 2pm at Cathedral Square and are pet-friendly. They can get a little busy so make sure your dog doesn’t get over-excited! Dogs are not permitted at the Wednesday markets at Reddacliff Place.

07. Ride the River

Get a dog’s-eye view of The City from the river with up to two pets allowed to travel with you across Brisbane’s network of CityCats and ferries. Dogs can feel the wind in their fur from the lower-level external passenger areas and can travel off-peak from 8.30am to 3.30pm and 7pm to 6am Monday to Friday and all weekend.
