The original lift was shipped here from New York State in 1928 by the Otis Elevator Company and has been restored with a new motor.

Of course, the new signature restaurant plays up the building’s past too. Executive chef Anthony Hales spent three months travelling around Australia and popped over to Korea to soak in the culinary scenes and use it as inspiration at the super chic Salon De Co.

There’s a moonlight cinema, yoga studio, a proper gym with all the equipment you need and three private VIP spa suites (complete with a spa, bar, speakers and TV) that guests can book. You’ll also find a restaurant with a tropical vibe, and an independent wine bar and store on the ground floor. Stopping into Valley Wine Bar for a takeaway bottle or sit-in cheese board is definitely essential.
