Afternoon

After a fun-filled day of exploring, it’s time to play Hotels, and Brisbane has some fantastic ones on offer – mostly without crazy pillows. If you want to wake up near the iconic St Brigid’s Church building in Red Hill that features in the background of many Bluey episodes, book a stay at the eclectically adorned by Ovolo For a perfect (which means really, really, really, really, really … good) rooftop city skyline view, stay at the Grand Chancellor Hotel from here, you’ll spot the iconic Queenslander-style houses of Brisbane.

Or, book a riverside stay to make hopping around town (in search of classic Bluey locations) a breeze on a CityCat – try the W Brisbane or Crystalbrook Vincent at Howard Smith Wharves.

Evening

Before dinner in Brisbane, let’s make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun stuff with the quintessential local experience, Riverlife (think rock climbing, kayaking the Brisbane River or abseiling). Then take in the views over Brisbane with dinner on the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs at Joey’s. It’s very romance.

Hang about, did you forget the spring rolls? Head to one of Brisbane’s enticing spring roll purveyors, including Donna Chang’s, Happy Boy or Fat Dumpling to ensure you don’t go home disappointed.

Day Two

Morning

Well-rested and ready to play? Alright, let’s boogie over to the Jan Powers Farmers Markets at Brisbane Powerhouse via CityCat – then enjoy a picnic by the river in New Farm Park just next door. In spring, you can see Brisbane’s iconic Jacarandas in bloom and explore the New Farm Riverwalk.

Midday

Skate on over from New Farm Park into Mary Mae’s for lunch by the river. Or, better yet, take a sky-high seat above Brisbane Powerhouse looking out over New Farm and beyond, with the new Vertigo dining experience. You may have to be the bravest you’ve ever been to conquer this one.

Afternoon

It’s time to take a swim at Enoggera Reservoir, which looks like it’s straight out of The Creek episode. What do you do when you get there? Well, it’s the creek … you just sorta muck around. Located in The Gap, the reservoir is a short distance from the Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre where visitors can meet some wildlife, watch out for dropbears, and check out the cafe.

Or, head south of Brisbane to the bayside suburb of Wynnum, where you’ll find the family favourite, Whale Park Wynnum, beside Pandanus Beach. This water-play site is great on balmy Brisbane days.

Evening

As the sun sets, fall in love with your new favourite Fancy Restaurant at Howard Smith Wharves. Or, if you don’t know what you want but you want something, take the kiddos to Eat Street Northshore where you can activate Dance Mode! and boogie on down with live music and a marketplace filled with all things delicious.

Day Three

Morning

Hit up the cafes and coffee shops of Brisbane City, before heading out for a spot of shopping on Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall – as featured in the Bluey episode Quiet Game. If you’re of the Bandit school of thought that suggests, ‘it’s chocolate, of course it’s good,’ be sure to visit Dello Mano for its famed foil-wrapped brownies and Noosa Chocolate Factory for its Queensland-made treats.

Midday

No holiday in Brisbane would be complete without a trip to South Bank where you can spot locations from the episode Ice Cream and walk under the vivid bougainvillea-swathed Grand Arbour.

Come lunchtime, visit one of South Bank’s top dining destinations, including Otto and La De Lah; or, stroll across to South Brisbane (just past the Queensland Museum) and enjoy a slice at Julius Pizzeria in Fish Lane, where street art and tasty treats await. If you’re not yet tuckered out you can step inside Mystic Escape for more fun and games.

While at South Bank, you can take a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane. Then it’s time for a swim at Streets Beach, make sure you check out the long-standing Nepalese Pagoda.

Got some time to spare? Venture out to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and meet the local wildlife, where you’ll find plenty of koalas, kangaroos, wombats and more!

After a big weekend of exploring, it’s time to say goodbye to wonderful Brisbane.

Wackadoo! Top marks! We can’t wait to see you again soon!
