Lucerne was established between 1859 and 1862 and is believed to be the oldest privately owned residence in Brisbane, Queensland. The property was named Lucerne in the mid-1860s, after the town and lake in Switzerland.
The property is dominated by several large trees and its owners continue to re-plant the gardens in the cottage style evident in early photographs of Lucerne.
